Client Alert, October 2018 - Social Insurance For Foreign Employees


The Vietnamese Government released Decree 143/2018/ND-CP (“Decree 143”) on 15 October 2018, providing the long awaited guidance for the implementation of Social Insurance obligations for foreign employees working in Vietnam.

Although the Social Insurance laws in Vietnam had stated that foreign employees have been subject to Vietnamese Social Insurance requirements effective 1 January 2018, until the release of Decree 143 there was no implementation guidance for employers.

Client Alert, September 2018 - Decree on E-invoices in Vietnam


The Vietnam Government released its Decree covering E-invoices in Vietnam on 12 September 2018. Decree 119/2018/ND-CP (“Decree 119”) on Regulations for Electronic Invoices when Selling Goods or Providing Services, sets out instructions which compel enterprises in Vietnam to move to using E-invoices by 31 October 2020, and cease using paper VAT invoices.
